The Most Important Meal of the Day

…servin’ it up Gary’s way. ….yes, that may have beenย  a Spongebob reference. haha

No shame.

Okay, so overly perky sea creatures aside – breakfast is always deemed the “most important meal of the day.” I have no argument against that.

I just don’t usually listen to it.

I’ll be very honest – I am not that person who is up hours before they need to be out the door…getting that workout in…planning that perfect outfit…primping in front of the mirror (uhh, the ponytail is my BFF)….or making a fulfilling and nutritional breakfast.

Usually – for me – breakfast is coffee (iced) that was made in bulk prior to that morning, it’s is delicous, but slurped down in haste before running out the door, usually a little late (for being early…I’m rarely, actually late).

I’m lucky if I grab a bar on my way out the door.

However, when I’m at my mom’s – I’m able to “make up” for all those days that breakfast is not on my list of priorities.

Nutella is a treat reserved for visits to my mom’s – but I always forget just how much I love English muffins. I need to put them on the shopping list. It’s gotta be the nooks and crannies. …perfect for hiding globs of Nutella (or PB…or cream cheese…or jam…or butter…or cinnamon and sugar).

If I had my way – breakfasts would consists of fresh fruits, spreads and breads. Alas – a lot of the time, 15 minutes of extra sleep takes priority over meal numero uno.

  • Do you always get in your “most imporant meal of the day?”
  • What are your favorite, go-to, weekday breakfasts?

Happy Heart Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

I hope that yours is filled with all of the above …and perhaps some Nutella…because nothing says love like a spoonful of Nutella!

So much love to you all!!!

The Most Wonderful Day of the Year

Happy World Nutella Day!!

Obviously, I started the celebration off right with a couple of spoonfuls direct from jar to mouth. The only way to do it, I say.

The World Nutella Day started waaay back in 2007 – how was I unaware?!? Regardless, the website has tons of awesome Nutella soaked recipes to choose from!

They include (from World Nutella Day’s website):

…and that’s just the “Breakfast” section!!

  • If you eat Nutella – what are your favorite ways to use it??…other than just straight from the jar…because well, that’s a given!

I Can’t Believe I Ate the Whole Thing

Okay…so technically that’s an old Alka Seltzer commercial – but truly, the only reason I remember it is this:

p.s. have you seen the "new" cartoon cover art for this book...pshh...not nearly as awkward or amazing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Beverly Cleary was one of my faves growing up….anyone else? Bev and Judy Blume made my little, bookworm world go ’round! (Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. anyone?)

Anyway – that’s a little off-track.

So – this past weekend, I did a lil’ travelin’ (not much), and made my way up to my mom’s house in NH. I think I just needed some time out of the snow-jammed city. This also seemed to be the plan of about 90% of all other Bostonians because 93 North was JAMMED on Friday night. For any New Englanders out there, it took our bus 20+ minutes to get out of South Station, through the tunnel and over the Zakim…yeah. It’s supposed to only take 35 to get to NH. I knew I was in for a heck of a ride…and this was at 7pm.

One thing I know that I’ll always be treated with at my mom’s is Nutella. Ohh…soo…good.

Okay…so it might be slightly exaggerating to say that I ate the whole thing…..but I was pretty close, and well, I totally could have polished that sucker off with just a spoon.

When I saw this in the pantry, I just knew what I had to do with it first (okay, that’s a lie…I spoonful went straight to my grill first)….

Jenna’s Nutella Hot Chocolate. She posted it a few days ago, and it’d been calling to me since.

Easiest thing ever. Nutella + Milk + heat + whisking….taaadaaaa! I mean, it’s actually kind of dangerous how simple it is to make.

My original measurements were 1 Tbsp of Nutella to 8oz. of milk…I ended up adding a little more Nutella simply because I have a problem…. (admitting it is the first step, right?)

The end result was creamy, chocolate-hazelnut goodness. Perfect for starting off a weekend of (almost) completely unplugging…

Ahhh – perfection.

Now, if only we could make weekends longer….

  • P.S. My inner bookwork wants to know your favorite childhood reads!! Dish!

Let it Snow

Hey loves! I hope everyone is doing well! Life has been busy (in the best way), and I’ve been engaging in a lot of R&R. ๐Ÿ™‚

My best friend is on the East Coast for Christmas! Weee!

My phone's got a crazy flash.

Neighbors have been droppin’ off cookies galore! This only means that I am way behind in Christmas baking…I’m sure some will be happening soon though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Such an adorable cookie!!

Adventuring for last minute Christmas shopping leads to finding interesting goodies on the shelves.

Ectoplasm, anyone?

Yesterday we got our first snow – the roads were a MESS…however, it allows for some quality time with the fireplace.

…and this cutie!

Wrapping presents has been a constant.

Found an amazing ‘new’ coffee flavor by Harmony Bay . Soo perfect for this time of year.

Plus…Nutella wraps are back in my life. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope the season of giving is treating you all well!

I love coffee and hot chocolate – what is your favorite way to warm up on a cold winter day?? (or even if it’s not cold where you are, what gets you in the holiday spirit??)

Hey hey, everyone! I hope everyone has had a great weekend – and those in the US had a happy, safe and fabulous weekend of the 4th!

I spent mine at the beach.

I was lucky enough to spend the time at my beach house, and to be able to see my family – many of whom I haven’t seen in ages!!

Lots of delicious foods were consumed…flank steak, lobster, delicious pastas and salads…and most importantly – homemade mojitos!

Fireworks were watched and lots of blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream was consumed, too.

For some reason, I have not been able to shake being tired. I think this past month of over-extending myself caught up with me. My main activity was sleeping/watching instant episodes of 30 Rock on Netflix. I could never seem to get enough sleep.

However, some other good eats were had, as well. …more like I stuffed my face. It’s okay – own it. haha

Crescent rolls + Nutella. Good morning to me. haha

A blueberry/banana/almond smoothie courtesy of my brother.

Dinner was a new Trader Joe’s discovery (I picked up other new things as well – so be prepared this week! :-P) … a Tarte L’Alsace – ham, caramelized onion and Gruyere in a delicate tarte shell. Delicious and beautiful. Like quiche Lorraine minus the eggs. haha

I hope you all are absolutely wonderful. …gearing up for the work week, but luckily it is a short one! ๐Ÿ™‚ Already almost a week into July?? Ah, time flies!!

  • What’d you do for the 4th?? (if you celebrated)

Fire-Roasted Goodness

Hello, hello! Happy Saturday!!

Hmm…what happened to Friday, right? Ah, busy day! Plus – I forgot my camera. Uhg – this is why I need a phone with a camera on it. No good. … I was supposed to get one today…but no bones. It wasn’t delivered like it was supposed to be. Lameeee.

I will let you know that I finally sunk my teeth into a fire-roasted veggie sandwich from Cosi and my mind was blown. Seriously so amazing (though a little messy!!). It’s probably my favorite.

Anyway – went out to dinner last night..though we were informed that we had hour and 20 minutes to eat because the restaurant was reserved for the evening starting at 8. That’s okay..I can eat fast. haha It was delicious though.

Went to Jacob Wirth’s (where portions of Cruise’s “Knight and Day” were shot…and they were promoting it quite a bit…haha) and had a delicious Bavarian burger…okay, their pickled cabbage, as gross as that may sound to some, is sooo good on this burger. Plus, it comes with their German potato salad which is pretty much the most amazing potato salad, period. My mom says that it is just like her mom made when she was little.

Anyway – back to the present. Today was filled with a few disappointments the first being the failed phone delivery that was supposed to occur today and the second being the U.S. loss to Ghana in the World Cup. Those boys played so hard though, and they did a great job.

However, there were numerous highlights to my day.

NUTELLAAAA! haha *chorus of angels*

Dunks + Sox (sad about Pedroia's fractured foot though!)

My bro got a PS3 – which DID get delivered today. My cat fell in love with the box it came in. Cuteness ensued.

Dinner was grilled chicken and homemade coleslaw – so good. Lots of cabbage talk in this post, haha.

Oh – and beer bread may have been made…and copious amounts may have been consumed. So delicious.

I hope you all are doing absolutely fabulously and enjoying your weekends!
